Lasting relief for dry eyes
Burning, grittiness, fluctuating vision, reaching for artificial tears again and again. Our specialists find what is driving your dry eye and treat the cause with in-office procedures and prescription therapies.
FDA-approved · In-office
Tixel
An FDA-approved in-office treatment for evaporative dry eye caused by meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), which is when the oil-producing glands in the eyelids don’t release enough healthy oil to keep tears from evaporating too quickly.
How Tixel works
Tixel uses controlled heat plus gentle mechanical action on the eyelids. The treatment is applied near the upper and lower lid margins rather than directly to the eye. The goal is to:
What treatment is like
In the clinical trial, patients received three sessions approximately two weeks apart. The clinician treats areas of the upper and lower eyelids with brief Tixel pulses.
In-office
BlephEx
An in-office treatment that mechanically cleans and exfoliates the eyelid margins and the base of the eyelashes.
BlephEx uses a small rotating micro-sponge to remove debris, flakes, oils and microbial/biofilm buildup from the lid margins. This can be particularly relevant when dry eye is associated with blepharitis and/or meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD).
How lid buildup leads to dry eye
- Lid debris & biofilm
- Eyelid inflammation
- Abnormal meibomian glands
- Unstable tear film
- Dry-eye symptoms
By cleaning the lid margin, BlephEx may:
Biologic therapy
Amniotic Membranes
A temporary biologic dressing that helps treat certain forms of dry eye and ocular-surface disease, particularly when the surface is significantly inflamed or damaged. Membranes are placed over the eye and typically remain in place for several days.
Potential benefits
In-office · No downtime
Rinsada
A quick in-office procedure using a specialized medical device to deeply clean the ocular surface and relieve chronic irritation. It typically takes only a few minutes, with no downtime.
The Rinsada tool is placed gently inside the eyelid to hold it open while delivering a controlled stream of sterile saline. It gives a deep flush by irrigating hard-to-reach areas like the conjunctival fornix, palpebral conjunctiva and bulbar conjunctiva at the same time. The high-flow wash clears away trapped allergens, bacteria, microscopic debris and biofilm from the eyelid margins.
Rinsada is used to:
Same-day · No surgery
Punctal Plugs
Punctal plugs are tiny devices placed in the tear drainage openings (puncta) in your eyelids. They help dry eye by slowing or blocking tear drainage.

Prescription
Prescription Therapies
Prescription dry-eye drops can help in different ways, depending on what is causing the dryness and on the prescription. They generally do more than simply “add moisture” like many over-the-counter products.
How prescription drops work
Autologous Serum
Prescription eye drops made from a patient’s own blood. The serum is separated and prepared as sterile eye drops for the treatment of dry eye.
Serum contains proteins, growth factors, vitamins, electrolytes and other components that are normally present in tears. The goal is not only lubrication but also supporting corneal epithelial healing and ocular-surface health.
Oxervate
An 8-week prescription eye drop treatment for neurotrophic keratitis, a condition where reduced nerve sensation in the cornea keeps the surface of the eye from healing normally. Loss of corneal sensation decreases protective blinking and the normal tear and corneal healing responses.
Common causes of neurotrophic keratitis
- Herpes simplex keratitis
- Herpes zoster ophthalmicus (shingles)
- Diabetes mellitus
- Previous eye or corneal surgery
- Trigeminal nerve disorders or injury
- Chemical or thermal injury
- Chronic topical eye medications
- Contact lens–related or chronic ocular surface disease
Herpes simplex keratitis is one of the most common causes. Trigeminal nerve injury can include tumors, stroke or trauma, and preservative-containing drops can contribute to corneal damage.
